Our Foundation Learners programme is carefully designed to introduce children to English in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment, where confidence grows naturally and learning feels enjoyable.

We combine traditional teaching methods with a structured phonics approach and storytelling-based learning, helping children develop strong foundations in sounds, vocabulary, listening, and early reading skills.

At this stage, our focus is on:

- building early literacy skills through phonics

- developing listening and speaking confidence

- encouraging curiosity and participation

- helping children feel safe, supported, and proud of their progress

By learning in small groups, children receive individual attention and positive reinforcement, allowing them to grow into confident, happy English learners with skills that are built to last.

Starters Academy is designed to support children as they move from early language learning to a more structured and confident use of English.

Teaching is delivered entirely in English and follows Cambridge English–aligned coursebooks.

Our programme builds strong foundations across all key areas of language:

- phonics and accurate pronunciation

- grammar and vocabulary

- reading comprehension

- reading for pleasure

Lessons are engaging, interactive, and purposeful, where children are encouraged to think, respond, and communicate in English, developing confidence alongside accuracy.

A distinctive feature of Starters Academy is our school library, where children have the opportunity to borrow unique and diverse English books.

Starters Academy provides a balanced, supportive learning environment where children progress steadily, build confidence, and develop a genuine love for the English language.

Movers Academy builds on the strong foundations developed in Starters Academy, introducing a more structured and academically focused approach to learning English.

At this stage, greater emphasis is placed on:

- grammar accuracy and expanding vocabulary

- reading comprehension and independent reading

- speaking through dialogue, debate, and guided discussion

- conversational games that develop fluency and confidence

Lessons are carefully structured yet highly engaging, encouraging learners to express ideas, ask questions, and interact confidently in English.

Reading continues to play an important role. Learners are encouraged to borrow from our school library, where a diverse and carefully selected range of English books supports both language development and a growing enjoyment of reading.

Movers Academy supports learners as they develop clarity, confidence, and independence, preparing them for the next stage of their Cambridge English journey.

Flyers Academy is designed for learners who are ready for a more advanced and structured approach to English, while continuing to develop confidence and enjoyment in learning.

Teaching is delivered entirely in English and follows Cambridge English–aligned coursebooks, with learning carefully structured and tailored to the needs of each group.

At this stage, students deepen their skills in:

- grammar accuracy and wider vocabulary use

- reading comprehension and analytical thinking

- extended speaking through dialogue, discussion and guided debate

- clear, confident written expression

Lessons are purposeful, engaging, and adapted to learners’ strengths and areas for development. Students are encouraged to communicate ideas clearly, collaborate with others, and use English with increasing independence.

Access to our school library continues to support reading for pleasure, exposing learners to a broad and diverse range of English texts.

Flyers Academy prepares students for the transition to higher-level English study, combining structure, personalisation, and academic rigour in a supportive learning environment.

Key Academy is designed for learners who are developing greater independence and require a focused, structured, and academically rigorous approach to English language learning. Instruction is systematic and targeted, ensuring clarity, consistency, and measurable progress.

At this stage, emphasis is placed on:

- accurate and controlled use of grammar

- systematic vocabulary expansion

- advanced reading comprehension and text analysis

- clear written expression and structured responses

- confident, well-supported spoken communication

Lessons are highly structured, combining direct instruction with guided practice, discussion, and exam-style tasks.

Students in Key Academy may work towards the Cambridge English: A2 Key (KET) exam, gaining essential exam skills, familiarity with task types, and confidence in formal assessment contexts.

Regular use of our school library supports academic reading and independent study, encouraging learners to engage with a wide range of texts and develop reading discipline alongside language proficiency.

Key Academy provides a solid academic foundation, preparing students for higher-level English study and future Cambridge examinations.

English Mastery represents the advanced stage of our English language pathway, designed for learners who have developed strong foundations and are ready to refine accuracy, fluency, and academic control of the language.

At this level, the programme focuses on:

- precise and confident use of complex grammar structures

- expanded academic and functional vocabulary

- critical reading and advanced comprehension skills

- clear, structured and purposeful writing

- confident spoken communication across a range of formal and informal contexts

Lessons are academically rigorous, combining direct instruction, guided practice, discussion, and independent application. Strong emphasis is placed on exam technique, accuracy, and sustained performance.

Independent learning is further supported through access to our school library, encouraging regular reading, exposure to authentic texts, and the continued development of academic literacy.
